31, 2004 CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Washington College men's swim team fell to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the Centennial Conference with a 135-68 loss to visiting Dickinson this afternoon at Casey Swim Center. Senior John Paul Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster) won two individual events for the Shoremen. Evans finished first in the 200 individual medley in 2:04.46 and in the 200 breaststroke in 2:13.17. Both of his winning times were WC season bests. Washington also won the 400 medley relay to open the meet as senior Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey), Evans, junior Ken Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest), and freshman Colin Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) completed the race in a WC season-best time of 3:50.10. Soper and Kuhn each finished second in two individual events. Soper swam a WC season-best time of 1:50.22 in the 200 freestyle to finish second and make him the school's eighth-fastest swimmer ever in that event. He also finished second in the 500 freestyle in 5:09.34. Kuhn became WC's seventh-fastest swimmer ever in the 200 breaststroke by finishing second in that event in 2:25.57. He also placed second in the 200 individual medley in 2:04.66. Jensen also tallied a second-place finish, swimming a 2:11.38 in the 200 butterfly. The Shoremen return to action one week today with a 1:00 p.m. conference meet at McDaniel. |
