Evans Wins Two Golds at CC Champs
Senior Takes Both Breaststroke Events

LANCASTER, PA -- Washington College senior John Paul Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster) won two gold medals this weekend at the Centennial Conference Men's Swimming Championships held at Franklin & Marshall College. The Shoremen finished sixth as a team at the event.

Evans won the 200 breaststroke in an NCAA B Cut and WC season-best time of 2:07.86. He also swam to an NCAA B Cut time of 2:08.95 in the preliminaries. He captured gold in the 100 breaststroke in 59.87, a WC season-best and personal lifetime-best time. In addition, he finished fourth in the 200 individual medley in 2:00.46.

Senior Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey) finished in the top ten in three events. He was fifth in the 200 individual medley in 2:00.78 after swimming a WC season-best time of 2:00.41 in the preliminaries. He was also fifth in the 400 individual medley in a WC season-best time of 4:21.52 and ninth in the 200 backstroke in a WC season-best time of 2:01.93.

Freshman Colin Soper (Towson, MD/Loyola Blakefield) added a sixth-place finish in the 1650 freestyle in 17:32.01 and a ninth-place finish in the 500 freestyle in a WC season-best time of 4:56.81. He also finished 12th in the 200 freestyle.

Franklin & Marshall won the team title, followed by Gettysburg in second and Dickinson in third.
