13, 2002 SALISBURY, MD - The Washington College men's swim team evened its 2002-03 record at 1-1 with a 108-76 win over Eastern Shore rival Salisbury University this evening. Freshman Andy Wesolek (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) captured three individual first-place finishes and set a pool record in the 100-meter freestyle, while junior Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey) and sophomore Ken Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) each won two individual events. Wesolek won the 100-meter freestyle in 54.42 to break the pool record at Salisbury. He also took first in the 800-meter freestyle in 9:22.35 and in the 50-meter freestyle in 24.50. Kuhn captured first in the 200-meter individual medley in 2:23.51 and in the 400-meter freestyle in 4:36.68. Jensen won the 200-meter freestyle in 2:10.37 and the 100-meter butterfly in 1:03.93. Sophomore Conor Caporale (Laguna Niguel, CA/Dana Hills) also took home an individual first-place finish for the Shoremen, winning the 100-meter backstroke in 1:11.15. Caporale also teamed with Kuhn, senior Pat Cline (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional), and junior Dwayne Yerger (Naples, FL/Hill School) to win the 200-meter medley relay in 1:59.62. Washington got second place finishes from senior J.C. Cronin (Newark, DE/Newark) in the 800-meter freestyle (9:47.15), Cline in the 100-meter butterfly (1:07.05), and Yerger in the 100-meter freestyle (1:00.15). The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home meet against Ursinus. |
