Shoremen Handle Gophers, 120-67
Evans, Kuhn, Wesolek Each Win Two Races

TOWSON, MD - The Washington College Shoremen improved to 4-3 this season with a 120-67 win over host Goucher in men's swimming action this afternoon. Juniors John Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster) and Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey) and freshman Andy Wesolek (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) each won two individual races for WC.

Wesolek completed both of his first-place finishes in WC season-best times, winning the 500 freestyle in 5:07.90 and the 200 individual medley in 2:03.54. Evans won the 100 breaststroke in a WC season-best time of 1:06.25 and finished first in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.44. Kuhn won the 1000 freestyle in a WC season-best time of 11:08.39 and also won the 100 freestyle in 51.00.

Sophomore Ken Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) added a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 58.67, while sophomore Conor Caporale (Laguna Niguel, CA/Dana Hills) won the 100 backstroke in 1:05.05.

Freshman Shane Walsh (Mitchelville, MD/Archbishop Spalding) finished second in both the 100 freestyle (12:23.88) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.13). Jensen touched the wall second in the 500 freestyle (5:47.89), while senior J.C. Cronin (Newark, DE/Newark) was second in the 200 individual medley (2:21.27).

The Shoremen won the 200 medley relay as Caporale, Evans, Cronin, and senior Pat Cline (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional) finished in 1:51.76.

The Shoremen return to action a week from today with a 1:00 p.m. meet at Dickinson.
