9, 2002 CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Washington College men's swim team dropped its 2002-03 season opener, 145-51, to visiting Gettysburg in Centennial Conference action this afternoon at the Casey Swim Center. Freshman Andy Wesolek (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) made an impressive collegiate swimming debut for the Shoremen. Wesolek swam a 54.41 100-yard backstroke leg in the meet-opening 400 medley relay. That time makes him WC's second-fastest swimmer ever in the 100 back. Wesolek also won the 50 freestyle in 22.20 and the 100 freestyle in 48.40. His time in the 100 freestyle makes him Washington's third-fastest swimmer ever in that event. Junior Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey) notched one first-place and one second-place finish against the Bullets. He won the 200 backstroke in 2:06.20 and was second in the 200 individual medley in 2:05.34. Wesolek, Kuhn, senior Pat Cline (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional), and sophomore Ken Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) finished second in the 400 medley relay in 3:50.58. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. meet at Eastern Shore rival Salisbury.
