WC Drops Meet to Diplomats
Wesolek Breaks School Record

LANCASTER, PA - The Washington College men's swim team lost to host Franklin & Marshall, 111-74, this afternoon in a Centennial Conference meet. Freshman Andy Wesolek (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) broke WC's 100 backstroke record and won both the 50 and 100 freestyles for the Shoremen (2-3, 1-2 Centennial Conference).

Wesolek led off the 400 medley relay with a backstroke leg of 54.05, breaking the school record. He also won the 50 freestyle in 22.00 and the 100 freestyle in 48.92. Junior Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey) won the 200 individual medley in a WC season-best time of 2:05.23. Sophomore Ken Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) won the 200 butterfly in a WC season-best time of 2:10.34, while freshman Shane Walsh (Mitchelville, MD/Archbishop Spalding), the only entrant in the 200 breaststroke, swam to a WC season-best time of 2:46.13.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Jensen, sophomore Conor Caporale (Laguna Niguel, CA/Dana Hills), senior Pat Cline (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional), and senior J.C. Cronin (Newark, DE/Newark) also established a WC season-best time of 3:41.47. The Shoremen earned the first-place points in the 400 freestyle relay after F&M entered both its relay teams as exhibitions.

In the 400 medley relay, Wesolek, Kuhn, Cline, and Jensen finished second in 3:51.02.

The Shoremen return to action at the ECAC Championships December 6-8 at Gloucester County Institue of Technology.
