WC Pulls Even with Win Over Blue Jays
Evans, Jensen, Wesolek Each Win Two Races

CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Washington College men's swim team evened its record at 3-3 overall this season with a 129-42 non-conference win over Elizabethtown this evening at Casey Swim Center. Junior John Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster), sophomore Ken Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest), and freshman Andy Wesolek (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown) each won two individual races for WC.

Evans, who was swimming in his first meet of the season after spending the fall semester studying abroad in Ireland, won the 200 backstroke in 2:13.20 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:22.35. Jensen won the 1000 freestyle in a season-best time of 11:25.68 and the 200 butterfly in 2:12.55. Wesolek was first in the 100 freestyle in 48.46 and in the 50 freestyle in 22.36.

The Shoremen won all but one event on the night, as an undermanned Elizabethtown squad did not enter any swimmers into four of the 11 events. Also capturing individual first-place finishes for the Shoremen were junior Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey), who won the 500 freestyle in 5:23.02, and senior J.C. Cronin (Newark, DE/Newark), who won the 200 freestyle in 1:56.72.

He also swam to a season-best time in the 200 breaststroke, where he finished fourth in 2:43.26. Senior Pat Cline (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional) took second in the 200 butterfly in 2:42.36, Kuhn was second in the 200 individual medley in a season-best time of 2:04.04, and Jensen was second in the 500 freestyle in 5:26.53.

In the relay events, sophomore Conor Caporale (Laguna Niguel, CA/Dana Hills) teamed with Evans, Cline, and Cronin to win the 200 medley in 1:57.98, while Kuhn, freshman Dean Campbell (La Plata, MD/La Plata), Caporale, and Wesolek won the 200 freestyle in 1:34.89.
