Shoremen Even Record at 1-1
Team Effort Leads to Win at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The Washington College men's swim team evened its 2001-02 dual meet record at 1-1 with a 103-87 Centennial Conference win at Ursinus. Head coach Kim Lessard called the win a "team effort" for the Shoremen (1-1, 1-1 Centennial), who came away with the victory despite swimming with only nine competitors.

Sophomores John Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster) and Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/Firestone) and senior Ryan Behles (Towson, MD/Calvert Hall) each won two events to account for WC's six individual first-place finishes. Evans cruised to a 19-second win in the 400 individual medley, touching the wall at 4:36.84, and also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.54. Kuhn finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:51.93) and the 100 backstroke (58.61), while Behles won the 500 freestyle (5:28.06) and the 1000 freestyle (11:04.7).

Kuhn, Evans, junior Pat Cline (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional), and freshman Kenneth Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) took first in the 400 medley relay in 3:52.64.

The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with their home opener, a 6:00 p.m. meet against Eastern Shore-rival Salisbury.
