7, 2001 CHESTERTOWN, MD - The Washington College Shoremen evened its 2001-02 dual meet record at 3-3 with a 119-66 win over visiting Goucher this evening at the Casey Swim Center. The Shoremen captured first place in nine of the 11 events. Sophomore Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey) won the 200 freestyle in 1:49.12 and the 100 freestyle in 50.35. Both of his times marked WC season-bests in those events. Sophomore John Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster) and senior Ryan Behles (Towson, MD/Calvert Hall) each captured two individual first-place finishes as well. Evans won the 200 individual medley in 2:04.54 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.96, while Behles paced the 500 freestyle in 5:12.59 and the 1000 freestyle in 11:17.70. Junior Pat Cline (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional) added Washington's other individual first, touching the wall at 57.81 in the 100 butterfly. Cline also swam to a WC season-best time of 23.99 in the 50 freestyle and took second place. A pair of hard-working Washington swimmers were rewarded for their efforts tonight. Junior Tristan Everitt (Brownsville, TX/Gladys Porter) qualified for the Centennial Conference Championships in the 100 backstroke by swimming to a second-place time of 1:01.74, while freshman Blake Craft (Landenburg, PA/Sanford) swam season-best times of 2:08.68 and 57.11 in the 200 and 100 freestyles, respectively. The Shoremen also captured first in both relays. The 200 medley team of freshman Conor Caporale (Laguna Niguel, CA/Dana Hills), Evans, Cline, and junior J.C. Cronin (Newark, DE/Newark) won the event in 1:48.45, while the 200 freestyle team of Kuhn, Behles, Everitt, and freshman Kenneth Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) won that event in 1:39.27.
