3, 2001 GETTYSBURG, PA - The Washington College men's swim team opened its 2001-02 season today with a 145-55 loss at Gettysburg College. Sophomores John Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster) and Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/Firestone) led the way for the Shoremen in the loss. Evans breezed to a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall nearly ten seconds before the next swimmer and completing the race in 2:14.78. Kuhn, meanwhile, captured first in the 200 backstroke in 2:05.08. Evans added a second-place finish in the 200 IM, while Kuhn was second in the 200 freestyle. The Gettysburg Bullets are the defending Centennial Conference champions. The Shoremen return to action one week from today with a 1:00 p.m. conference meet at Ursinus.
