WC Has Solid Showing at ECAC's
Kuhn, Evans Lead Way for Shoremen

SEWELL, NJ - The Washington College men's swim team recorded a solid tenth-place finish as a team at the ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships. The Shoremen scored 237 points despite entering only seven swimmers in the meet.

Sophomore John Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster) defended his title in the 200 breaststroke by finishing in 2:13.39. Evans added a fourth place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.76 and took fifth in the 200 individual medley and eighth in the 400 individual medley.

Sophomore Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey) had the finest meet of his collegiate career. Kuhn swam to four personal bests, led by his second-place finish in the 400 individual medley in 4:21.27. He finished third in the 200 backstroke in 2:00.69 and in the 200 freestyle in 1:49.21. Kuhn also took seventh in the 500 freestyle in 5:00.29.

Junior Pat Cline (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional) added an eighth-place finish in the 200 butterfly and a 14th-place finish in the 100 butterfly. Senior Ryan Behles (Towson, MD/Calvert Hall) finished ninth in the 1650 freestyle and 16th in the 200 butterfly. Freshman Kenneth Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) rounded out the scoring with a 14th-place finish in the 200 butterfly.

Head coach Kim Lessard commented, "We had a lot of season-bests for the men. They have been working hard and it showed."

The Shoremen return to action tomorrow with a 6:30 p.m. meet at Widener.
