WC Falls to Red Devils
Seniors Honored Before Meet

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College men's swim team dropped to 3-6 overall and 1-3 in the Centennial Conference with a 149-50 loss to visiting Dickinson College this afternoon at Casey Swim Center. The Red Devils improved to 11-0 and 5-0 with the win.

Before the meet, WC seniors Ryan Behles (Towson, MD/Calvert Hall) and Eric Waterman (Little Silver, NJ/Red Bank Regional) along with Shorewoman senior Vanessa Makarewicz (Manchester, CT/Manchester) were honored for their time at Washington, both in and out of the pool.

In the meet, the Shoremen picked up two first-place finishes, both by sophomore John Evans (Westminster, MD/Westminster). Evans swam to WC season-best times in the 200 individual medley (2:03.09) and the 200 breaststroke (2:13.03) to win both races.

Washington's 400 medley relay team of sophomore Alex Kuhn (Washington, PA/McGuffey), Evans, junior Pat Cline (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional), and freshman Kenneth Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) also set a new WC season-best time, finishing in second place in 3:50.05.

Kuhn recorded a pair of individual second-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:50.82) and the 200 backstroke (2:02.45). Jensen added WC's other second-place finish, completing the 200 butterfly in 2:12.50.

The Shoremen return to action February 9th with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference meet at Western Maryland.
