23, 2009 CHESTER, PA -- Host Widener got two goals from Brad Ziegler, including the game-winning tally, as the host Pride rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to record a 3-1 victory over visiting Washington College in a non-conference men's soccer match tonight at Leslie C. Quick, Jr. Stadium. The Pride improve to 3-4-1 on the season, while the Shoremen fall to 2-5. Washington took a 1-0 lead at the 39:21 mark when freshman forward Matt Sedney (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) scored his first-career goal with freshman midfielder Jon Evans (Baltimore, MD/Parkville) chalking up his second assist of the year. The Shoremen would take the 1-0 lead into halftime. Widener's Dan Lorenzet evened the contest at 57:51 when he finished off a pass from Andrew Sinclair. The Pride went up for good at 68:24 on Ziegler's first goal of the game, with Lorenzet picking up the assist. Ziegler netted the final goal of the night when he converted a feed from Sinclair. For Sinclair, it was his second assist of the contest. Widener held a 23-12 edge in shots and had six of the seven corner kicks in the match. For the Pride, Hamed Correa stopped two shots to pick up the win, while Shoremen sophomore goalkeeper Chris Phipps (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) turned away nine shots. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home match versus Franklin & Marshall.
