2008 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Wesley College scored on its only two shots on goal of the game in a 2-0 non-conference men's soccer victory over Delmarva-region rival Washington College tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Wolverines improved to 9-3-2 with the win, while the Shoremen slipped to 3-9 with the loss. Will Sutton put the Wolverines on the board when he fired in a goal off an errant clear at 3:56. Mike Thomas made it 2-0 when he beat a defender on a breakaway and sent the ball into the lower left corner of the goal at 32:10. An earlier shot on goal in the first half by the Wolverines was negated by an offside call. Washington held a 22-6 advantage in shots in the game, including a 14-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Shoremen also had two shots go off the crossbar and held an 8-1 edge in corner kicks. Nick Talarico made 14 saves for the Wolverines Senior forward Brian Schultz (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) had a game-high six shots for Washington. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Gettysburg.
