2008 WASHINGTON, DC -- Host Catholic University topped visiting Washington College, 1-0, in a non-conference men's soccer game this afternoon in Washington, DC. The Cardinals, who have played nine one-goal games this season, improved to 9-1 with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 2-8 with the loss. The only goal of the game was scored at 41:02 when Michael DiMarco tallied a goal off an assist from Kevin Duffy. Catholic held an 18-2 advantage in shots in the game, including a 13-1 advantage in the second half. The Cardinals also had a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper Chris Phipps (Newark, DE/St. Mark's) made seven saves in the loss for the Shoremen. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Muhlenberg.
