Shoremen Leave Knights In The Dark, 4-0
Zimmer Nets First Two Career Goals; Bedrock Gets First Win and Shutout

GLENSIDE, PA -- Freshman forward Zach Zimmer (Potomac, MD/Bullis School) netted his first two career goals as Washington College downed host Arcadia University, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Arcadia. The Shoremen improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Knights fall to 2-4.

Washington got on the board at 25:15 in the first half when senior forward Brian Schultz (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) put a shot into the lower left corner off an assist from senior midfielder Brian Danver (Bethany Beach, DE/St. Albans (DC) to give the guests a 1-0 lead. Zimmer scored his first career goal with 3:01 left in the opening half off a feed from senior defender Phil Baker (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley) to give the Shoremen a 2-0 lead, which they would take into halftime.

Danver made it 3-0 in the 76th minute on a free kick. Zimmer closed out the scoring at the 85:25 mark off the first career assist from sophomore goalkeeper James Bedrock (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick). Bedrock punted the ball, bouncing it over the final defender, before Zimmer collected the ball and volleyed it over the goalkeeper's head to give the Shoremen their first four goal victory since a 4-0 win over Haverford on October 24, 2007.

Bedrock made four saves in posting his first career victory and shutout. For Arcadia, Jeff Kratohwill played the first 80 minutes, allowing three goals and making four saves, while Pat Malley played the final 10 minutes in net, allowing the final goal.

The Shoremen return to action next Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. match at Dickinson in their Centennial Conference opener.
