16, 2007 DOVER, DE -- Junior forward Brian Schultz (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) scored two goals and assisted on another as visiting Washington College topped host Wesley College, 3-1, in a non-conference men's soccer game tonight in Dover, DE. The Shoremen improved to 5-9 with the win, while the Wolverines slipped to 5-10 with the loss. Junior forward Brian Schultz (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) put the Shoremen on the board with a 30-yard blast at 26:38. Schultz then headed a ball to junior forward/midfielder Tony Armiger (Glen Arm, MD/Loch Raven), who gave Washington a 2-0 lead with a goal from 13 yards out at 33:52. Peter Hulem cut the lead to 2-1, putting the Wolverines on the board with a goal off a free kick at 38:16. The score remained 2-1 at halftime; each team finished the period with six shots. Schultz extended the lead to 3-1 with a goal in transition at 55:29 that went past Wesley goalkeeper Tom Mikulski, who dived to try to make the stop. Wesley held a 12-11 advantage in shots in the game and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Marc Petrucci (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) made five stops for the Shoremen, while Mikulski had five saves for Wesley. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Ursinus.
