20, 2007 COLLEGEVILLE, PA -- Host Ursinus College topped visiting Washington College, 3-2, in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Bears improved to 7-6-2 overall and 2-3-2 in conference play with the win, while the Shoremen slipped to 5-10 and 0-7 with the loss. Washington took a 1-0 lead into halftime as senior midfielder Frank Borelli (Malaga, NJ/Delsea Regional) provided the only score of the first half with a goal at 36:27. The Bears strung together three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead in the second half. Abraham Cabello scored off a feed from Brad Atkinson at 50:09, Dustin Young scored from Cabello at 68:55, and John George booted in a penalty kick at 74:37. Junior forward Brian Schultz (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) got the Shoremen to back within a goal with a tally at 78:13, but Washington was unable to get the equalizer. Joseph Kenney made one save and allowed one goal in the first half for Ursinus, while Ed de Gottal made four saves and allowed one goal in the second half. Senior goalkeeper Marc Petrucci (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) made eight saves in the loss for the Shoremen. Ursinus held a 12-9 advantage in shots, while Washington had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Haverford.
