5, 2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Salisbury University scored on a shot off of a rebound in the early portion of the second half to record a 1-0 non-conference men's soccer victory over host Washington College tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Sea Gulls improved to 2-0-1 with the win, while the Shoremen slipped to 1-2 with the loss. Salisbury held an 11-3 advantage in shots in a scoreless first half. Washington senior goalkeeper Marc Petrucci (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) made six shots in the opening period, including two in a row off point-blank shots from Salisbury's Chris Finney in the 43rd minute. Salisbury got on the board in the 52nd minute. Petrucci made a diving stop on a shot by Nick Malone, but the ball went back out into the box to Mike Napolitano, who booted it into the goal to give Salisbury the game's only goal at 51:16. For the game, the Sea Gulls outshot the Shoremen, 24-4. Salisbury also enjoyed a 9-2 advantage on corner kicks. Petrucci made 14 saves in the loss for Washington, while Matt Blue made a pair of stops for the Sea Gulls. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 7:00 p.m. home game against Arcadia.
