6, 2007 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Muhlenberg College topped hosted Washington College, 3-0, in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Mules improved to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 3-8 and 0-5. Muhlenberg took a 1-0 lead at 38:31 when Jonathan Kliewer played a ball ahead to Eric Miller in transition. Washington senior goalkeeper Marc Petrucci (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) came out of the box to cut off Miller, but Miller shot the ball past him for the goal. The Mules held a 6-3 advantage in shots in a defensive-dominated first half. Miller gave Muhlenberg a 2-0 advantage with a goal at 54:40 off a pass in the box from Billy Dalton. Eric Gonzalez completed the scoring with a goal from the top of the box at 85:34. Muhlenberg out-shot Washington, 19-5, in the game and held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. Peter Bennett made two saves in the shutout win for the Mules, while Petrucci made 10 stops for the Shoremen. The Shoremen return to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. home game against Catholic.
