Green Terror Tag Shoremen, 5-2
Armiger, Schantz Score for Washington

WESTMINSTER, MD -- Host McDaniel College scored five goals on 15 shots to defeat visiting Washington College, 5-2, in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game this afternoon in Westminster, MD. The Green Terror improved to 7-2-2 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 3-7 and 0-4 with the loss.

Bill Druckenmiller opened the scoring for the Green Terror at 7:28 when he booted in a goal off a cross from Donzell Tate. The Shoremen knotted the score at 1-1 when senior midfielder Frank Borelli (Malaga, NJ/Delsea Regional) found junior forward/midfielder Tony Armiger (Glen Arm, MD/Loch Raven) for Armiger's first collegiate goal. McDaniel moved back in front at 43:30 when Brandon Smith headed in a cross from Timothy Wineke.

The Green Terror then scored the first two goals of the second half to take a commanding 4-1 lead. James Cosby blasted in a shot from the right side into the top left corner of the goal at 49:38 and Druckenmiller scored his second goal at the 64:28 mark.

Junior defender Wes Schantz (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg) scored the Shoremen's second goal from the right side at 76:26, but David Cross fed Joseph Potucek for McDaniel's fifth goal at 87:38.

Christian Maisel made seven saves in goal for McDaniel, while senior goalkeeper Marc Petrucci (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) made one save for the Shoremen.

McDaniel held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks in the game. The Shoremen finished with 14 shots in the contest.

The Shoremen return to action one week from today with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Muhlenberg.
