#18 Diplomats Get Past Shoremen, 1-0
Petrucci Makes 10 Saves in the Loss

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting 18th-ranked Franklin & Marshall got all the scoring it needed in the first half of a 1-0 Centennial Conference men's soccer victory over host Washington College this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Diplomats remained unbeaten on the season at 8-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the win, while the Shoremen slipped to 3-5 and 0-2 with the loss. All five of Washington's losses this season have come by one-goal margins.

F&M got the board when Brandon Corday sent a long pass from the wing into the box that went through the hands of Washington senior goalkeeper Marc Petrucci (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) and was knocked in by Danny Shuptar at 31:55. The Diplomats held a 9-4 advantage in shots in the first half.

The Diplomats maintained an 11-2 advantage in shots in the second half, but could not dent the scoreboard again as Petrucci made six saves in the period. Washington's final shot of the game came with 44 seconds to play when junior forward Brian Schultz (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) sent a shot wide of the goal.

Zack Zamek made a pair of saves to pick up the shutout for Franklin & Marshall. Petrucci finished with 10 saves in the game. F&M enjoyed an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks, six of them coming in the second half.

The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with an 8:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Swarthmore.
