Shoremen Lance Knights, 1-0
Dopazo Scores Game's Only Goal at 26:00

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Senior midfielder/forward Gabe Dopazo (Washington, DC/Winston Churchill, MD) scored the game's only goal as host Washington College downed visiting Arcadia, 1-0, in a non-conference men's soccer game tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shoremen, who have played four 1-0 games to open the season, evened their record at 2-2, while the Knights slipped to 0-3-1.

Dopazo put the Shoremen on the board when he scored off a cross from senior midfielder Frank Borelli (Malaga, NJ/Delsea Regional) at 26:00. Each team got off five shots in the opening half as the Shoremen took a 1-0 lead into the break.

Arcadia held a 6-4 edge in shots in the second half, but did not get off a shot for the final 12:19 of the game. In the closing seconds of the game, Arcadia's Andrew Plunkett sent a pass from midfield deep into the box, but Washington senior goalkeeper Marc Petrucci (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) came out to pluck the ball out of the air before an Arcadia player could get to it for a final shot.

Petrucci tallied six saves in the shutout win, raising his save percentage on the year to .946. Jeff Kratohwill made four saves for Arcadia in the loss.

The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. game at Goucher.
