Garnet Ground Shoremen, 2-1
Schultz Scores in Loss for Washington

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Dylan Langley scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal at the 70:00 mark as visiting Swarthmore College topped host Washington College, 2-1, in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Garnet improved to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play with the win, while the loss dropped the Shoremen to 4-3 and 1-2.

Langley was also involved in the games first goal as he sent a pass across the box to Yoi Tibbets, who scored to give Swarthmore a 1-0 lead at 21:38. The Shoremen evened the score when sophomore midfielder Brian Danver (Montgomery Village, MD/St. Albans) tapped an indirect kick to sophomore forward/midfielder Brian Schultz (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall), who booted the ball into the goal from outside the box.

Langley's game-winner began as a corner kick by J.P. Faunes, who sent the ball to Jeff Kushner. Kushner headed the ball to Langley, who headed the ball into the goal. A double assist was awarded on the play.

Ryan Sutcliffe made three saves for the Garnet, while junior goalkeeper Marc Petrucci (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) made five stops for the Shoremen.

Washington held an 11-8 advantage in shots in the game, while Swarthmore maintained a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Haverford.
