Shoremen Swat Hornets, 1-0
Borelli Scores Game's Only Goal in First Half

WINCHESTER, VA -- Junior midfielder Frank Borelli (Malaga, NJ/Delsea Regional) scored the only goal of the game in the first half as the Washington College men's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 1-0 victory over host Shenandoah (0-4) this afternoon in Winchester, VA.

Borelli's goal came at the 4:17 mark and Washington's defense held onto that lead the rest of the game. Shenandoah held a 13-8 advantage in shots in the game, including a 6-1 edge in the second half. The Hornets also had an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.

Junior goalkeeper Marc Petrucci (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) made eight saves for the Shoremen en route to his first collegiate shutout. Brian Garretson made one saves for Shenandoah.

The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. home game against Goucher.
