23, 2006 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Adison Weseloh scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 70th minute as visiting Muhlenberg College topped host Washington College, 2-1, in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. Washington (4-2, 1-1 Centennial) got on the board first when sophomore forward/midfielder Brian Schultz (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) knocked in a loose ball inside the box to give the Shoremen a 1-0 lead at 21:35. The Mules (4-1-1, 1-1) evened the score less than three minutes later when Bill Dalton headed in a corner kick from Alex Gildner at 24:10. Each team got off seven shots in the first half. Weseloh's game-winner came at the 69:18 mark. Mike Gehrmann sent a cross from outside the box into the center, where Weseloh booted it in. Muhlenberg held an 8-2 advantage in shots in the second period. Muhlenberg finished with a 15-9 advantage in shots for the game and a 5-4 edge in corner kicks. Peter Bennett made five saves for Muhlenberg, while junior goalkeeper Marc Petrucci (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) made seven stops for the Shoremen. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Swarthmore.
