2006 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College men's soccer team broke open a close game by scoring three goals in the final eight minutes of a 4-0 shutout win over visiting Marymount University tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shoremen improved to 7-4 with the win, while the Saints fell to 7-7 with the loss. Washington senior midfielder Jordan Lange (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) scored at the 24:27 mark to give the Shoremen a 1-0 lead. Sophomore defender Will Kraus (Westminster, MD/South Carroll) picked up his first collegiate assist on the play. Kraus threw the ball in to Lange, who placed header high into the Marymount goal. Sophomore forward/midfielder Brian Schultz (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) provided the Shoremen with the first of their three late goals when he scored off an assist from Kraus at 82:50. Schultz scored again just over two minutes later, this time beating his defender and blasting in a goal from outside the box at 85:02. Senior forward Josh Todd (Crisfield, MD/Crisfield) finished off the scoring when he fired in a goal off a feed from junior midfielder Frank Borelli (Malaga, NJ/Delsea Regional) at 86:46. Junior goalkeeper Marc Petrucci (Avondale, PA/Avon Grove) made two saves for Washington in his second consecutive solo shutout and the Shoremen's third straight shutout win. Prior to tonight, the Shoremen had most recently recorded three consecutive shutout wins during the 1996 season. Marymount goalkeeper Nick Anderesh made seven saves for the Saints. Washington held a 20-8 advantage in shots and a 10-7 edge in corner kicks. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 3:30 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Gettysburg.
