September 24, 2005 ALLENTOWN, PA -- Thirteenth-ranked Muhlenberg College defeated visiting Washington College, 2-1, in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game this evening in Allentown, PA. The Mules improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the win, while the Shoremen slipped to 2-5 and 1-1 with the loss. Jonathan Kliewer gave Muhlenberg a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 28:07 mark. Jose Ramirez booted a corner kick which Adam Milberg handled with a header to Kliewer who scored the goal. Ramirez and Milberg were each credited with an assist. The score remained 1-0 until Ramirez dribbled past defenders to feed James Henshaw for a goal at 54:46. Junior midfielder Jordan Lange (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) put the Shoremen on the board at the 87:50 mark with a goal from 18 yards out. Muhlenberg goalkeeper Peter Bennett made four saves in the win for the Mules, while junior goalkeeper Sean Ferri (Northport, NY/Kings Park) made six stops in the loss for the Shoremen. Muhlenberg held a 21-8 advantage in shots and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks in the game. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Swarthmore.
