Medaille Blanks Shoremen, 1-0

BROCKPORT, NY -- A goal in the 52nd minute of play accounted for all of the game's scoring as Medaille College blanked Washington College, 1-0, in men's soccer today at the SUNY Brockport Tournament in Brockport, NY. The Mavericks improved to 1-1 this season with the win, while the Shoremen slipped to 0-2.

Cory Cwiklinski broke a scoreless tie when he booted in a goal off an assist from Ryan Mangano at 51:39.

Medaille's Craig Yanni made five saves in the shutout, while Washington sophomore goalkeeper Mike Gillis (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen) made four saves. Washington held a 13-12 advantage in shots, but Medaille maintained a 7-6 edge in corner kicks.

Senior midfielder Jaron Putmon (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) had a game-high four shots for the Shoremen.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. game at FDU-Florham.
