| October 26, 2005 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Nicholas Gauna scored both Johns Hopkins goals as the visiting Blue Jays defeated host Washington College, 2-1, in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game this afternoon at Shriver Field. Gauna gave Hopkins (10-2-4, 4-1-3 Centennial) a 1-0 lead when he redirected and indirect kick from Adam Simon at 12:15. He then booted in the Blue Jays' second goal off an assist from Blaine Phillips at 25:26. Junior forward Josh Todd (Crisfield, MD/Crisfield) got the Shoremen (4-11-1, 2-5-1) on the board when he headed in an indirect kick from senior midfielder/defender Ben Fulford (Lutherville, MD/Towson) at 29:17. Junior goalkeeper Sean Ferri (Northport, NY/Kings Park) played the first half for Washington, making three saves and allowing both goals. Sophomore Mike Gillis (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen) made five saves in the second half for the Shoremen. Dan Coble made four saves for the Blue Jays. Hopkins held a 19-5 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. The Shoremen close out the 2005 season Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. home game against McDaniel.
