| October 1, 2005 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Senior midfielder Jaron Putmon (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) and junior forward Josh Todd (Crisfield, MD/Crisfield) each scored one goal in the second half to lead host Washington College past visiting Haverford, 2-0, in a Centennial Conference men's soccer game this afternoon at Shriver Field. Neither team scored in the first half as Haverford (5-3-1, 1-3 Centennial) held a 5-3 advantage in shots in the period. The Shoremen (3-6, 2-2) got on the board at 72:18 when Putmon scored off the first collegiate assist from freshman midfielder Brian Danver (Montgomery Village, MD/St. Albans) on an indirect kick. Todd gave Washington a two-goal cushion when he knocked in a rebound off a shot by junior midfielder/defender Dave Hieber (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield) at the 76:05 mark. The Shoremen maintained an 8-5 edge in shots in the second half and a slim 11-10 advantage in shots for the game. Junior goalkeeper Sean Ferri (Northport, NY/Kings Park) made six saves in the shutout for Washington. Alec Aramanda made two saves in the first half for Haverford. Adam Care played the second half in goal for the Fords, allowing both goals and making three saves. Haverford held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks in the game. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. game at Marymount.
