September 29, 2004 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Swarthmore College took a 2-0 lead into halftime and added four more goals in the second half to down host Washington College, 6-0, in Centennial Conference men's soccer action this afternoon at Kibler Field. The Garnet Tide improved to 5-1-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shoremen slipped to 3-4-1 and 0-2. Kirk Ellison and Michael Bonesteel each scored two goals for Swarthmore, while Colton Bangs tallied two assists. Scott Long and Brandon Washington each added one goal and Vernon Chaplin contributed one assist. Swarthmore goalkeeper Nate Shupe made six saves in the shutout. Washington senior goalkeeper Ryan Miller (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) played the first 77:40, made four saves, and allowed five goals. Miller was relieved by sophomore Sean Ferri (King's Park, NY/King's Park), who saw the first action of his collegiate career. Ferri made one save and allowed two goals in 12:20.
