October 16, 2004 GETTYSBURG, PA -- Host Gettysburg College improved to 7-5-1 overall and 4-1-1 in Centennial Conference play with a 2-1 win over visiting Washington College in men's soccer action this afternoon in Gettysburg, PA. The Shoremen fell to 3-8-1 and 0-5 with the loss. Matt Varner gave Gettysburg a 1-0 lead late in the first half when he scored on a header at 44:37. Chris Borcik made the score 2-0 in favor of the Bullets when he scored off an assist from Brad Tabor at 55:55. The Shoremen got on the board at 69:26 as sophomore forward/midfielder Jonnie Jenkins (Westminster, MD/South Carroll) scored from ten yards out on an assist by senior midfielder Justin Layfield (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) . Gettysburg held a 23-8 advantage in shots in the game and a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Ursinus.
