Todd's Two Goals Take Opener
Shoremen Top Griffins, 2-0

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Sophomore forward Josh Todd (Crisfield, MD/Crisfield) scored a pair of first-half goals to lift host Washington College past visiting Chestnut Hill, 2-0, in the 2004 men's soccer opener for both schools this afternoon at Kibler Field.

Todd's first goal came at the 4:14 mark off an assist from senior midfielder Tom Baker (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley). Baker sent a cross from the left side of the field to Todd, who flicked the ball in to the right of Chestnut Hill goalkeeper George Binaco. Todd scored his second goal at 15:24, knocking in a rebound off his own shot.

Washington held a decisive 23-5 edge in shots in the game and a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Ryan Miller (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) made three saves in the shutout win, while Binaco made nine stops for the Griffins, who were playing the first varsity men's soccer game in Chestnut Hill history.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. game against Eastern Mennonite at the University of Mary Washington Classic.
