Pope Gives WAC Tie with Cabrini
Shoremen, Cavaliers Play to 1-1 Draw

RADNOR, PA -- Senior midfielder Jimmy Pope (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) scored in the 83rd minute as visiting Washington College rallied to earn a 1-1 double-overtime tie against host Cabrini in men's soccer action this afternoon in Radnor, PA. The Shoremen's record this season now stands at 2-2-1, while the Cavaliers have posted a 2-2-2 mark in 2004.

After a scoreless first half, Cabrini took a 1-0 lead at the 60:48 mark when Joe Rotan tallied an unassisted goal. Pope's goal, the first of his collegiate career, came at 82:42. Sophomore midfielder/defender David Hieber (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield) picked up his first collegiate assist on Pope's goal.

Washington senior goalkeeper Ryan Miller (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) and Cabrini goalkeeper Andrew Brady each made six saves in the game. Cabrini held a 19-13 advantage in shots and an 11-10 edge in corner kicks.

The Shoremen open Centennial Conference play Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home game against Ursinus.
