1, 2003 SWARTHMORE, PA -- The Washington College men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at host Swarthmore this evening in Centennial Conference play. The Shoremen fell to 4-3-1 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while the Garnet Tide improved to 3-7-1 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Swarthmore's Colton Bangs booted in the game's only goal into the upper left corner of the net at the 87:16 mark. WC junior goalkeeper Ryan Miller (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) made nine saves for the Shoremen and has now held 12 consecutive opponents to under two goals, dating back to last season. Swarthmore goalkeeper Nate Shupe made five saves en route to the shutout. Swarthmore held a 15-9 advantage in shots and a 9-7 edge in corner kicks. The Shoremen's next game is slated for Saturday, a 1:00 p.m. conference home tilt against Haverford. That game marks the start of a five-game home stand for Washington, which has played only two home games thus far this season.
