Shipley's Last-Minute Goal Lifts
WC to Win in Season Opener

BRIDGEWATER, VA -- Junior midfielder Kevin Shipley (Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic) scored a goal in the 90th minute to lift the Washington College men's soccer team to a 1-0 season-opening victory over host Bridgewater College at the Bridgewater College Tournament this afternoon.

Shipley's goal came with just 33 seconds remaining in regulation and was assisted by junior midfielder/forward Tom Baker (Baltimore, MD/Archbishop Curley). The goal was the first of Shipley's collegiate career.

WC junior goalkeeper Ryan Miller (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) played well in goal, making nine saves in the shutout. Miller's performance helped offset the Eagles' 22-8 advantage in shots.

Tomorrow at the Bridgewater Tournament, the Shoremen will face Eastern Mennonite at 10:00 a.m. on the second day of the two-day round robin event.
