15, 2002 DOVER, DE -- Despite jumping out to a 2-0 lead, the Washington College men's soccer team dropped a non-conference game to Delmarva-area rival Wesley College, 3-2, this afternoon in Dover, DE. The Shoremen slipped to 6-6-1 with the loss, while the Wolverines improved to 9-5. WC senior back Steve Yurchak (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Regional) got the Shoremen on the board at 11:26 when, after a Wesley foul, he blasted a 40-yard kick into the goal. The Shoremen went ahead 2-0 on a goal by freshman forward Jaron Putmon (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) at 18:54. WC maintained the 2-0 lead until 58:46 when Wesley's Derek Roberts-Lee scored off a deflection. The Wolverines tied things up at the 70:17 mark on a goal by GR Cannon. Cannon then scored what would prove to be the game-winner at 77:04. Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Miller (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) made 12 saves for the Shoremen, who were outshot 21-12 by the Wolverines in the loss. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Dickinson. Box Score
