8, 2002 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College men's soccer team dropped its 2002 home opener, falling 5-2 to Randolph-Macon this afternoon at Kibler Field. The Shoremen fell to 2-1 with the loss, while the Yellowjackets improved to 3-1. Randolph-Macon jumped out to a 2-0 lead early. Nick Bach scored at 6:26 off assists from Brian Fowler and Eric Nejfelt. Then, at 11:07, Andrew Beasley blasted in a long kick over the Washington defense to push the lead to two goals. The Shoremen cut the deficit to 2-1 when junior forward/midfielder Geoff Foltyn (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) knocked in a shot at 17:38, but Bach headed a pass to Maskel, who scored RMC's third goal at 24:39. The score remained 3-1 until the 48:42 mark when Nejfelt scored to widen the lead to three. Beasley all but sealed the game at 56:32 when he scored his second goal of the game, this time off a penalty kick. Foltyn rounded out the scoring with his second goal of the game when he knocked in a ball deflected by Randolph-Macon keeper Nick Warner at 58:00. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 p.m. home game against Goucher College. Box Score
