11, 2002 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College men's soccer team equaled its 2001 win total with a 3-1 victory over visiting Goucher this afternoon on Kibler Field. The Shoremen improved to 3-1 with the victory, while the Gophers slipped to 1-4. The Shoremen got on the board first, at 5:32, when sophomore forward David Dudick (Hudson, OH/Western Reserve Academy) scored off an assist from junior forward/midfielder Geoff Foltyn (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall). Foltyn scored a goal of his own at 15:07 off a feed from senior forward T.J. Velykis (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Regional) to push the lead to 2-0. Foltyn's goal was his fifth this season and stretched his goal-scoring streak to four games. Goucher responded 38 seconds later when Tim Dunn headed in a pass from Patrick Cornelison to cut the lead to 2-1. The score remained that way until the 76:13 mark when Washington freshman defender Doug Cline (Mullica Hill, NJ/Delsea Regional) scored his first collegiate goal off a pass from Dudick. WC sophomore goalie Ryan Miller (Bel Air, MD/Fallston) made nine saves in the win, while Goucher's Ted Domers also made nine stops. The Shoremen return to action Saturday with a 6:00 p.m. game at Marymount. Box Score
