28, 2002 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College men's soccer team improved to 5-2-1 overall this season and evened its Centennial Conference record at 1-1 with a 3-1 victory over visiting Franklin & Marshall (3-6, 2-1) this afternoon at Kibler Field. Junior forward/midfielder Geoff Foltyn (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) assisted on two of the Shoremen's three goals. WC took a 1-0 lead at 18:48 when Foltyn passed to freshman forward Jaron Putmon (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) who knocked in a goal from the right side. Sophomore midfielder Justin Layfield (Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) gave the Shoremen a 2-0 lead at 28:20. The Shoremen quickly extended the lead to three goals to open the second half. Foltyn delivered a pass to sophomore forward David Dudick (Hudson, OH/Western Reserve Academy), who booted in his third goal in the past two games. F&M got on the board when Ryan Fox scored off a defelcted shot from Matt Holcomb at 68:36. The Shoremen return to action Wednesday with a 4:30 p.m. game at Catholic. Box Score
