Shoremen Drop Game to Mules
Ferro Plays Solid Second Half

ALLENTOWN, PA -- The Washington College men's soccer team fell to 1-9-1 overall and 0-5 in the Centennial Conference with a 3-0 loss at Muhlenberg this afternoon. The Mules improved to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in league play with the win.

Muhlenberg junior forward Dave Vassilaros (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) scored the first goal just 2:17 into the game. Vassilaros headed in a cross from junior forward Ben Long (Granville, OH/Granville). Freshman forward Tim Sparta (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) upped to margin to 2-0 with a goal at 11:23. Sophomore back Evan Smallwood (Cochranville, PA/Octorara) and sophomore midfielder Justin Henning (Robesonia, PA/Conrad Weiser) each picked up an assist on Smallwood's goal. Muhlenberg's final goal came at 22:31 when Long tallied his second assist on a goal by Henning.

Washington sophomore goalkeeper Esteban Ferro (Quito, Ecuador) played the second half for the Shoremen and made seven saves while not allowing a goal.

The Shoremen return to action Thursday with a 4:00 p.m. non-conference game at Villa Julie.
