9, 2001 WILMINGTON, DE -- The Washington College men's rowing team competed at the Head of Christina regatta Sunday. Only experienced WC rowers participated in the event due to its early-season nature. Junior John Dolan (Millsboro, DE/St. Andrew's School) represented the Shoremen in single competition. Dolan, who was racing in his first single, placed fifth in 19:58.1. The Shoremen four team of senior Jonas Johnson (Atlanta, GA/Marist School), junior Sean Askham (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury), sophomore Greg Smith (Sykesville, MD/Mount St. Joseph), sophomore Jonathan Lange (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt), and sophomore Nick Mikhalevsky (Arlington, VA/St. Andrew's School, MD) took second place. The squad finished in 19:59.3, behind only a club team from Wilmington. The Shoremen's next stop for competition is Boston, where they will row at the Head of Charles regatta on Oct. 19-21. |
