2009 LORTON, VA -- The Washington College men's rowing team finished the fall portion of its schedule today at the Head of the Occoquan in Lorton, VA. The Shoremen were fifth in the novice four, seventh in the collegiate eight, 10th in both the collegiate four and the novice eight. Freshman Reese Laricks (Newark, DE/Delaware Military Academy) was the coxswain for the Shoremen's college novice four, which finished fifth of 15 boats in 21:32.1400. Freshman Kyle Carlson (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) sat stroke, freshman Thomas Newton (Chesapeake Beach, MD/Huntingtown) was in the three seat, freshman Kyle Benk (Bloomsburry, NJ/Phillipsburg) sat in the two seat, and freshman Christoper Paul (Preston, MD/North Caroline) was the bow. Loyola won the college novice four in 20:13.6000. Senior Springer Harris (Huntingtown, MD/Northern) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's collegiate eight, which finished seventh of 18 boats in 17:19.9150. Senior Brian Gamble (Gibson Island, MD/Holderness School, NH) sat stroke, junior Reno Smith (Ocean City, MD/Worcester Prep) was in the seven seat, junior Michael Zaborskiy (Novosibirsk City, Russia/American School of Bangkok) sat in the six seat, sophomore Sean Harrison (Richmond, VA/Hazleton Area, PA) was in the five seat, senior Andrew Newell (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) sat in the four seat, senior Brandon Riker (Marlboro, VT/Twin Valley) was in the three seat, junior Will Herland (Seattle, WA/Lakeside School) was in the two seat, and freshman Robert Storck (Wilton, CT/St. Mark's School, MA) was the bow. George Mason won the collegiate eight in 16:14.2233. Junior Susanne Vaughn (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's collegiate four, which placed 10th of 28 boats in 19:15.8300. Senior Dan Pierce (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) sat stroke, senior Tommy Price (Pasadena, MD/Severn School) was in the three seat, sophomore Miqdad Annab (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) sat in the two seat, and senior Quentin Swain (Pasadena, MA/Mount St. Joseph) was the bow. George Mason won the collegiate four in 18:01.7933. Laricks also served as coxswain of the Shoremen's college novice eight, which was 10th of 21 boats in 19:31.1867.
