Two Shoremen Named All-Conference
Leekley Named Coach of the Year;
Three Land on MARC Academic Honor Roll

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College sophomore Michael Zaborskiy (Novosibirsk City, Russia/American School of Bangkok) and junior Springer Harris (Huntingtown, MD/Northern) have been named to the inaugural All Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) men's team. In addition, Washington College head coach John Leekley has been named the MARC's Men's Coach of te Year. Zaborskiy and Harris also join sophomore Will Herland (Seattle, WA/Lakeside School) on the conference's inaugural Academic Honor Roll.

All three Shoremen competed in the varsity eight which finished second at Saturday's Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championships. Harris was the coxswain of the boat, while Zaborskiy was in the six seat and Herland was in the five seat. The trio also competed in the Shoremen's four which won the Division II/III event at the Knecht Cup earlier this month.

The All-MARC teams were selected based upon nominations by the student-athletes' respective head coaches. To qualify for the MARC Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must a) have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, b) be in their second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, and c) must have competed in 75% of the varsity competitions or competed in the MARC Championships.
