WC Fours Race at Navy Day Regatta
A Boat Finishes 13th, B Boat 17th

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- The Washington College men's rowing team opened the fall regata season with two boats entered in the men's college four at today's Philadelphia Navy Day Regatta. Washington's "A" boat finished 13th, while the "B" boat was 17th.

The Shoremen's "A" boat completed the 4,000 meter course in 15:45.60, 11.5 seconds faster than 14th-place Loyola. The "B" finished in 16:31.40. Eighteen boats completed the race. Navy won the race in 14:50.90.

Junior Carla Wiemers (Kensington, MD/Holy Cross) served as coxswain of the Shoremen's "A" boat. Sophomore Brian Gamble (Gibson Island, MD/Holderness School, NH) sat stroke, senior Hugh McAdam (Hollis, NH/Worcester Academy) was in the three seat, junior Derek Trott (Huntingtown, MD/Northern) sat in the two seat, and junior Matt Icenroad (Sykesville, MD/Century) was the bow.

Sophomore Springer Harris (Huntingtown, MD/Northern) was coxswain of the Shoremen's "B" boat. Sophomore Dan Pierce (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) sat stroke, sophomore Ken Searles (Towson, MD/Towson) was in the three seat, sophomore R. Scott Jones (Maple Glen, PA/La Salle College HS) sat in the two seat, and sophomore Tommy Price (Pasadena, MD/Severn School) was the bow.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday, October 27th, at the Head of the Schuylkill regatta in Philadelphia.
