Novice Four Wins in Worcester
Varsity Four Finishes Third

WORCESTER, MA -- The Washington College men's rowing team competed in Worcester, MA, today in a regatta featuring WPI, Clark, and Division I Holy Cross. The Shoremen's novice four finished first in 7:20.00, while the varsity four was third in its race in 7:11.23.

The novice four took a commanding lead from the start and won its race by several boat-lengths.

The varsity four finished less than a half-second behing second-place WPI.

Junior Tom Murray (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) served as coxswain of the varsity four boat . Sophomore Andrew Bright (Gambrills, MD/DeMatha) sat stroke, junior Mike Philipp (Newark, DE/Newark) sat in the three seat, sophomore Jared Hornyak (Trenton, NJ/Hamilton) was in the two seat, and junior Martin Dunphy (Finksburg, MD/Westminster) was the bow.

Freshman Meredith Weaver (Huntingtown, MD/Calvert) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's novice four boat. Freshman Chris Broadwell (Virginia Beach, VA/Cape Henry Collegiate School) sat stroke, freshman Trent Cosentino (Richmond, VA/St. Christopher's School) was in the three seat, junior Jason Brown (Baltimore, MD/Randallstown) was in the two seat, and freshman Hugh McAdam (Hollis, NH/Worcester Academy) was the bow.

The Shoremen return to action next Saturday and Sunday at the Knecht Cup in Boston, MA.
