WC Eight Finishes 7th at Occoquan Chase

LORTON, VA -- The Washington College men's rowing team opened its fall 2005 regatta schedule today at the Occoquan Chase in Lorton, VA. The Shoremen finished seventh of 18 boats in the Men's Open Eight.

Washington completed the Open Eight in 14:38.17, 31 seconds better than Virginia's "B" boat, which finished eighth. Virginia's "A" boat won the race in 13:31.74. Washington was the sixth collegiate boat to finish the race.

Senior Tom Murray (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) served as the coxswain for the Shoremen in the race. Junior Andrew Bright (Gambrills, MD/DeMatha) sat stroke, junior Ed Mundy (Winnetka, IL/New Trier) was in the seven seat, junior Adam Askham (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) was in the six seat, senior Jason Brown (Baltimore, MD/Randallstown) sat in the five seat, senior Mike Philipp (Newark, DE/Newark) was in the four seat, freshman Zak Morey (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) was in the three seat, sophomore Hugh McAdam (Hollis, NH/Worcester Academy) sat in the two seat, and sophomore Chris Broadwell (Virginia Beach, VA/Cape Henry Collegiate School) was the bow.

The Shoremen return to action next Sunday at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, MA.
