Shoremen Compete at Head of the Charles

BOSTON, MA -- Washington College men's rowers competed in the men's collegiate eight at the Head of the Charles, the world's largest rowing regatta, this afternoon. The Shoremen finished 40th of 41 boats in the race. They completed the course in 18:08.921, but were assessed 80 seconds in penalties for an official time of 19:28.921.

Senior Tom Murray (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) served as the coxswain for the Shoremen in the race. Junior Andrew Bright (Gambrills, MD/DeMatha) sat stroke, junior Ed Mundy (Winnetka, IL/New Trier) was in the seven seat, junior Adam Askham (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) was in the six seat, senior Jason Brown (Baltimore, MD/Randallstown) sat in the five seat, senior Mike Philipp (Newark, DE/Newark) was in the four seat, freshman Zak Morey (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) was in the three seat, sophomore Hugh McAdam (Hollis, NH/Worcester Academy) sat in the two seat, and sophomore Chris Broadwell (Virginia Beach, VA/Cape Henry Collegiate School) was the bow.

Trinity (CT) College won the men's collegiate eight in 15:58.714.

The Shoremen return to action Saturday at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia.
