WAC Second at Caspersen Cup
Shoremen's B Boat Wins Varsity Four

ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The Washington College men's rowers teamed with the College's women's rowers to finished second of three schools at the annual Caspersen Cup regatta, held this morning on the Severn River in Annapolis, MD. Johns Hopkins won the cup with 33 points, Washington was second with 30 points, and St. John's (MD) was third with 25.

The Shoremen's "B" boat in the men's varsity four finished in first place in 7:43. Washington's "A" boat finished fourth in that race, while the Shoremen's lightweight four competed as the Shoremen's "C" boat in the varsity four and finished fifth.

Washington's "A" boat was second in the men's varsity eight, while the Shoremen's "B" boat was fourth. Washington finished third in the men's novice four.

Junior Amanda Whittemore (Media, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) was the coxswain of the varsity four "B" boat. Sophomore Jared Hornyak (Trenton, NJ/Hamilton) sat stroke, sophomore Ryan Trone (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) was in the three seat, junior Rick Adrian (Baltimore, MD/Towson) sat in the two seat, and sophomore Edward Mundy (Winnetka, IL/New Trier) was the bow.

Junior Tom Murray (Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown) served as coxswain of the varsity four "A" boat . Sophomore Andrew Bright (Gambrills, MD/DeMatha) sat stroke, junior Mike Philipp (Newark, DE/Newark) sat in the three seat, freshman Spencer Case (Hudson, OH/Western Reserve Academy) was in the two seat, and sophomore Adrian Peterson (Perryville, MD/Perryville) was the bow.

Freshman Meredith Weaver (Huntingtown, MD/Calvert) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's lightweight four boat. Junior Martin Dunphy (Finksburg, MD/Westminster) sat stroke, junior Kevin Marshall (Silver Spring, MD/RHSM, UT) was in the three seat, freshman Kevin McGarry (North Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) was in the two seat, and sophomore Matthew Harding (Forest Hill, MD/C. Milton Wright) was the bow.

Freshman Shrijana Puri (Bethesda, MD/Bethesda-Chevy Chase) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's novice four. Freshman Chris Broadwell (Virginia Beach, VA/Cape Henry Collegiate School) sat stroke, junior Jason Brown (Baltimore, MD/Randallstown) was in the three seat, freshman Trent Cosentino (Richmond, VA/St. Christopher's School) was in the two seat, and freshman Hugh McAdam (Hollis, NH/Worcester Academy) was the bow.

Sophomore Caitlyn Onyx (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) served as coxswain of the varsity eight "A" boat. Bright sat stroke, Peterson was in the seven seat, Philipp was in the six seat, Trone was in the five seat, Case was in the four seat, Dunphy was in the three seat, Broadwell was in the two seat, and McAdam was the box.

Whittemore was the coxswain of the varsity eight "B" boat. Hornyak sat stroke, Marshall sat in the seven seat, Munday was in the six seat, Brown was in the five seat, Cosentino was in the four seat, Adrian was in the three seat, McGarry was in the two seat, and Harding was the bow.

The Washington College rowing teams will host the Mother and Son Regatta next week, featuring Mary Washington, Richard Stockton, and Bryn Mawr.
